SamCart vs ThriveCart: Which Cart Fits Your Launch?

SamCart vs ThriveCart compared on 2026's new monthly plans, fees and trial length — plus what happens after checkout, which neither cart tool runs for you.

The short answer

SamCart's Core plan runs $59–79 a month with a 7-day trial; ThriveCart's Standard plan runs $37–47 a month with a 30-day trial. Neither charges a platform transaction fee — both pass through standard card-processing rates only. ThriveCart is the cheaper entry point with more time to test; SamCart's higher tiers add features sellers doing real volume may need sooner.

SamCart's Core plan runs $59–79 a month with a 7-day free trial; ThriveCart's Standard plan runs $37–47 a month with a 30-day free trial. Neither platform charges its own transaction fee on top of the monthly price — both pass through only your payment processor's standard rate. ThriveCart is the cheaper entry point with more time to test an offer before paying; SamCart's higher Pro and Enterprise tiers add affiliate and team features that sellers doing real volume may need sooner than ThriveCart's single Pro+ upgrade covers.

AdvLaunch is the AI agency for coaches and consultants. We install an AI workforce for client acquisition, which means we end up on this page from the buying side: we build the booking funnels that run on top of tools like SamCart and ThriveCart, and we run the ads and follow-up that put buyers in front of whichever checkout a coach picks. That's the lens behind this breakdown — not a feature checklist, but which cart actually fits the stage a launch is at once real budget and real sales are behind it.

A note on these figures

SamCart's own pricing page (samcart.com/pricing) and help center could not be reached directly this run — every vendor domain this loop has checked has hit the same block since 2026-10-01. SamCart's figures below are cross-checked across five independent 2026 trackers rather than read off SamCart's own page, and the less-corroborated Pro-tier price is flagged as such. ThriveCart's figures are reused from this site's own thrivecart-pricing page, checked directly against ThriveCart's own July 2026 pricing announcement on 2026-10-26 and still inside the 45-day freshness window. Confirm both before you buy.

What SamCart and ThriveCart Actually Are

Both are subscription checkout-and-cart platforms built to sell a single offer well: order bumps, one-click upsells and downsells, and automated sales-tax handling on every current plan. Neither is a full course host or email platform the way Kartra tries to be — they exist to convert a visitor who already has a checkout link in front of them, as cleanly and with as few drop-offs as possible. SamCart leans on a more modern page-builder interface and offers its own built-in processor (SamPay) as an option alongside Stripe and PayPal. ThriveCart is usually credited with deeper affiliate-program tooling and more funnel-level flexibility for sellers running multiple offers through one account.

Both vendors spent most of their history selling a one-time or lifetime-license model instead of a standard monthly subscription — and both moved away from that in 2026. ThriveCart introduced monthly Standard and Pro+ plans in July 2026, after years of its well-known lifetime deal; existing lifetime customers keep their original terms. SamCart retired its older Launch, Grow and Scale tiers the same year for a new Core, Pro and Enterprise lineup; legacy Launch/Grow/Scale customers are grandfathered but move to Core or Pro if they ever cancel and reactivate. Several comparison blogs still circulating in 2026 quote ThriveCart's old one-time price ($495 or a $690 "lifetime" deal) as if it were still the only option — it isn't, for anyone signing up new.

Pricing and Fees, Side by Side

On sticker price, ThriveCart's entry plan undercuts SamCart's by a wide margin: $37 a month billed annually against $59 a month for SamCart Core, with ThriveCart also giving almost four times the trial window to test before paying anything. Where SamCart's case gets stronger is further up the ladder — Pro and Enterprise add seat and feature headroom ThriveCart compresses into a single Pro+ step, which matters once a launch outgrows a solo-seller setup.

Which Cart Fits Your Stage

Testing a first offer, tight budget, not sure it'll sell yet

ThriveCart Standard

Cheaper entry price and a 30-day trial give the most runway to find out before paying a full month for either tool.

Offer is validated, want affiliate payouts or deeper funnel flexibility

ThriveCart Pro+

Adds the affiliate center and funnel tooling ThriveCart is best known for, in one step up from Standard.

Running real volume, want SamCart's interface or its own processor option

SamCart Core or Pro

Pro's exact price isn't fully confirmed this run — check samcart.com/pricing directly before committing past Core.

Annual billing changes the comparison more than it looks at first glance. SamCart Core drops from $79 to $59 a month on an annual commitment — a 25% saving, or roughly $240 a year back in your pocket. ThriveCart Standard drops from $47 to $37 a month annually, a smaller dollar saving but a similar percentage. Run the math against your actual expected sales before committing to a year: a seller still validating an offer loses more by locking into annual billing on a tool they might abandon than they save on the discount, which is exactly why ThriveCart's 30-day trial matters more than its price tag alone suggests.

Feature depth is where the two diverge past the price tag. ThriveCart's affiliate center — automated affiliate signup, tiered commissions, and payout tracking — sits on Pro+ and is one of the most-cited reasons sellers pick it over SamCart for anything with a partner or referral program. SamCart's equivalent affiliate tooling is reported on its Pro and Enterprise tiers, but with less third-party documentation on exactly how it compares feature-for-feature. If affiliate payouts are central to how you plan to sell, ThriveCart's Pro+ is the better-documented bet; if you mainly need a clean single-seller checkout with a modern builder interface, SamCart Core covers that without paying for affiliate tooling you won't use.

Switching Between SamCart and ThriveCart

Neither platform offers a native one-click migration from the other. Moving means rebuilding your product catalog, order-bump and upsell sequences, and reconnecting whichever payment processor and email tool you use — the same rebuild work either direction, so the switching cost itself shouldn't be the deciding factor between them. Budget a real setup pass, not an afternoon, whichever way you move.

How AdvLaunch Turns a SamCart or ThriveCart Checkout Into Booked Calls

AdvLaunch is the AI agency for coaches and consultants. We install an AI workforce that runs the acquisition work most coaches and consultants don't have hours left for: reaching the right people across ads and outreach, replying to everyone who shows interest, and following up until a call lands on the calendar — whatever cart tool that offer's checkout runs through.

A SamCart or ThriveCart checkout is built to convert someone who's already arrived with the link in hand, and each tool's own abandoned-cart or dunning sequence is built to chase the ones who land and leave. Neither part gets that link in front of someone new, and neither replaces a real conversation for a buyer who has questions before they'll pay. That's the part before the checkout page and the part after the first automated email goes unanswered — the part a cart tool was never built to do — and it's the part we run.
